Being an Elder Led Community.
We are an Elder led community.
Our mission and community is overseen by a Board of Elders who serve as stewards of our spiritual and material activities, committed to role-model a culture of Jesus’ love and dedicated to serving our community in obedience to God’s truth. This form of church governance is often referred to as "elder rule" or "plurality of elders."
All commissioned Elders share these commitments and are accountable to God, each other, and all members of our community:
Leadership Authority: Elders hold the primary leadership authority in the community. They are responsible for making important decisions related to church doctrine, policies, and direction.
Spiritual Oversight: Elders are tasked with supporting and protecting spiritual care and shepherding of the community. They secure or provide access to pastoral guidance, support, and accountability to ensure the spiritual well-being of the members.
Shared Leadership: Instead of a single pastor or individual holding sole leadership authority, our community operates under the oversight of a group of elders working collaboratively in making decisions and setting the direction of the church.
Qualifications: Elders are expected to meet certain biblical qualifications, as outlined in passages like 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. These qualifications emphasize characteristics such as being above reproach, faithful, wise, and capable of teaching and counseling when appropriate or necessary.
Servant Leadership: Elders will lead by example and serve the congregation humbly, imitating the servant leadership modeled by Jesus Christ.
Congregational Input: While elders have significant authority, our organization values community input around key decisions, especially those with a major impact on the church's direction or doctrine.
Accountability: Elders are accountable to God, each other, and members of our community for their leadership and shepherding of the community. They are expected to prayerfully seek God's guidance and adhere to biblical principles in their decision-making.
